Classic Special Bets in French Roulette – The Racetrack

In the classic game of French Roulette there are two betting tables. The large main area is the standard betting table table as seen in European Roulette where players place their bets.  There is an additional oval table layout that was originally designed for the croupier to place special bet for players.

But with online casino games there is no need for croupier assistance. In roulette there are many type of bets. But French Roulette is the only game with an added table used just for special bets.  As discussed below, these special bets are simple to understand and use.

The special bets table focuses on the location of numbers on the roulette wheel.

1.  The Jeu Zero bet covers the zero and a total of 4 numbers located on either side of it.
2. The Voisins du Zero also covers the zero but includes a total of 16 numbers located on either side of it.
3. Les Orphelins bets are placed on numbers located on opposite sides of the wheel about one fourth of the distance away from the zero.
4. The Tiers du Cylindre covers 12 numbers opposite the zero.

Players simply click on the named special bet and the software will place the chips on the appropriate numbers.

PLACING SPECIAL BETS
ON THE RACETRACK

In the computer software version of French Roulette, the players can place a bet on any of the four special bets simply by clicking on the special bet type on the racetrack layout. The software will automatically place chips on the appropriate spots on the main table. From there, the player may click on any of the chips to increase the bet on those numbers.

This gives the player a very fast and efficient way to make some very complex bets.

Jeu Zero – Zero Game Bets

The special Jeu Zero (Zero) bet is a simple bet that attempts to cover the zero and numbers close to it, but with a clever twist. This bet covers the zero and two numbers to the right of the zero (Red 32 & Black 15) on the roulette wheel plus four numbers ( Black 26, Red 3, Black 35 & Red 12) to the left of the zero with only four bets. This is accomplished by placing the following chips.

1. one split bet on Red 32 & Black 35
2. one split bet on Black 15 & Red 12
3. one straight up bet on Black 26
4. one split bet on Green 0 & Red 3

Les Orphelins – Orphans

 

With the Les Orphelins (Orphans) bet, the player covers two sets of number on opposite sides of the roulette wheel with five chip bets. The first sequence includes three numbers on the right of the zero consisting of Black 17, Red 34 and Black 6 while the second sequence on the left side includes five numbers consisting of Red 9, Black 31, Red 14, Black 20 and Red 1.

This time, nine numbers are covered with only five chips covering two middle sections of the wheel.

1. one split bet on Black 17 & Red 14
2. one split bet on Black 17 & Black 20
3. one split bet on Black 6 & Red 9
4. one split bet on Red 34 & Black 31
5. one straight up bet on Red 1

Voisins du Zero – Neighbours

The Voisins du Zero Neighbours bets include the zero and the first seven number to the right of the zero as well as the first nine number to left of zero. The seven numbers on the right include Red 32, Black 15, Red 19, Black 4, Red 21, Black 2 and Red 25. while the nine numbers to the left include Black 26, Red 3, Black 35, Red 12, Black 28, Red 7, Black 29, Red 18 and Black 22.

With this bet, you can get partial coverage on 17 numbers with only 7 chips and cover almost half of the board.

1. one trio bet on Green 0, Black 2 & Red 3
2. one split bet on Red 32 & Black 35
3. one split bet on Black 15 & Red 12
4. one split bet on Red 19 & Black 22
5. one split bet on Black 4 & Red 7
6. one split bet on Red 21 & Red 18
7. one corner bet on Red 25, Black 26, Black 28 & Black 29

 

Tiers du Cylindre – Thirds of the Wheel

 

The Tiers du Cylindre (Thirds of the Wheel) bet covers twelve numbers in a line starting from the Red 27 through Black 33 that is one third of the numbers located across from the zero. The numbers in this series includes Red 27, Black 13, Red 36, Black 11, Red 30, Black 8, Red 23, Black 10, Red 5, Black 24, Red 16 and Black 33. You will note that this bet consists of 6 red and 6 black numbers, all of which are split bets.

1. one split bet on Red 27 & Red 30
2. one split bet on Black 13 & Red 16
3. one split bet on Red 36 & Black 33
4. one split bet on Black 11 & Black 10
5. one split bet on Black 8 & Red 5
6. one split bet on Red 23 & Black 24

 

Classic Special Bets Summary

As you can see by the chart, the special bets include each number at a least once. In fact, the Orphans bet received its name from the fact that is includes all the numbers that were not used in the other three special bets. The Orphans bet is also the only special bet that includes 2 bets on the same black number. However it also includes a straight up bet on red to balance out the odds of red vs black.

The Neighbours bet is the most varied with the only trio and corner bets. It also includes a straight up bet on Red. However, it does not favor either color.
